Matt Koza grew up in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. His passion for food came while he was in California visiting his oldest brother, John. His earliest memory is of his brother showing him how to make risotto when he was 11 years old. Koza said it was just a blast and his best memories are from cooking by his side and seeing the reaction from his friends and family.
In 2005, Koza began attending culinary school and graduated from the Pittsburgh Art Institute in 2008 where he got his first job as lead chef at The Marriott in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. From there, his career took him to working at Zocolo, an Aaron Sanchez restaurant, Chef Michael Symon’s Lola Bistro and now as Executive Chef for Chef Rocco Whalen’s restaurant Fahrenheit-Cleveland.
Matt considers his cooking well rounded and loves creativity. His focus is on French technique combined with American fusion adding Asian and Italian notes. Matt creativity takes his culinary dishes to the next level for Fahrenheit’s monthly wine and beer pairings, private dining events and daily specials.
